Here’s a fascinating slice of mid-60s British Invasion history that most collectors have never encountered. “Mickie Most Presents English In-Groups” was assembled by the legendary producer himself during the absolute peak of his powers in 1966, the same year he was crafting hits for The Animals, Herman’s Hermits, and Donovan. While Most is remembered today primarily for his work with major acts, this compilation showcases his ear for emerging talent and captures the raw energy of Britain’s underground beat scene. The album features a mix of lesser-known groups that were bubbling up through the club circuit, some of whom would later achieve recognition, while others remain tantalizingly obscure footnotes in rock history.
